The start of something special - Blog from Rich

Hey,
Welcome to our first blog! Its 08:36 in the morning and im already up with Sonic Boom Six blasting out LOUD. Firstly i would like to thank everybody that has added us on Facebook and Twitter for their support! We havent even posted a single note of us playing yet over 200 people have added us!

This week to get the ball rolling we will be posting a demo track up at 7PM (GMT) on SAT 6TH NOV - thats right its just before xfactor so theres no excuse not to give it a listen!

Follow You Home has been in the making for a while. My brother was jamming with another band and they needed a bass player to fill in for a while. I went and jammed with them a few times along with a good friend of mine from my school days "Nick Ayre". After a while we decided that the band wasn't going to plan so we all decided to leave it there.

I had previously been in a band called "3 STOREYS HIGH" for the last 8 years but when that had come to end i had told myself that my time playing music was over. I guess after 8 years of putting everything i could into a band had taken its toll. The other 3SH guys wanted to try something new so started a new band and i had lost faith in the whole thing.

Without meaning to have a dig at anybody i think that being in a band can also be a dangerous thing. People that start out as good friends eventually become nothing more than "business colleagues" very easily. There is most definately a fine line and while im thankful that i was able to tour places like Japan, China and Europe and support some of our idols, my over riding feeling at the end of 3SH is that it ended up as a business not a band!

What was nice about this year though was that after 18 months apart we were able to get together and learn how to be friends again and play 1 last show. Anyway lets talk about FYH!

Follow You Home came about after Nick and I had a few acoustic sessions at my house. I had never really wrote too many songs myself but jamming with Nick just felt really natural. It wasn't long before we were both coming up with melodies and lyrics just came straight away. Nick really restored my faith in music and from then on i was really excited to play the songs we had written in a band format!

I already knew that my brother Mikey was really keen to be in a band and had previously become frustrated playing drums when he prefers guitar so we recruited him straight away, and through a friend we got in touch with Aidan to play drums. After a few jams we realised the chemistry was there, it was just a case of finding a talented singer that fit in with what we were writing. After a while looking a trying out various people Kayley turned up to audition and blew us away - she was the missing piece of the Jigsaw.

I know im ranting on and i dont want this blog to be too long and get boring but what im getting at is :-
This band is about playing music with friends, its not about getting some shit together to make money or sell records. We want people to hear us and enjoy our music and eventually come to our shows. Thats all that matters. Im really excited to try some new concepts out too but what i want is a personal connection with people. I wanted to be a part of a band that will connect with fans and people that support them and i really feel like we have that!

Its going to be an exciting future, im not saying our music is going to change the world.
But its certainly going to change our world!
